Three golfers lead TigersThree different Princeton boys golfers led the Tigers in meets May 11 at Purple Hawk, May 12 at Pebble Creek and May 16 at the Princeton Golf Club.
Connor Whitcomb led the Tigers with an 81 on May 11 at Purple Hawk. He hit a 40 on the front nine and a 41 on the back on the par 72 course. Korben Weidenborner shot a 93, followed by Dan Pelzer and Brendan Carlson’s 95, Silas Reek’s 97 and DJ Perez’s 98.
Rogers’ McCabe Buege was the winner with a 71.
In team play, Princeton’s 364 was eighth in the nine-school field. Rogers was first with a 305.
On Thursday, May 12 Perez’s 81 was the top score among Princeton golfers on the par 72 course. Whitcomb shot an 86, followed by Wiedenborner with a 93, Carlson 94 and Reek at 101. Princeton’s 354 tied for sixth in the Mississippi 8 Conference meet. Rogers was best with a 305.
Carlson put on a show on his home course on Monday, May 16. Carlson’s 83 was the best among Princeton golfers. Whitcomb was one stroke behind with an 84, followed by Pelzer’s 85, Reek’s 93, Wiedenborner at 96 and Perez with a 98.
Buegue of Rogers had the top mark with a 69. Princeton’s team score of 345 was good for seventh among the nine M8 schools. Rogers’ 296 was best of the pack.
Girls golf
The Princeton girls golf team traveled to Mora to participate in the Mora Scramble on Wednesday, May 11.
In the two-player scramble, Alli Voce and Mikayla Brooks shot an 87. Meghan Foley and Raegan Anderson shot a 93, and Skylar Olson and Meghan Nash shot a 96.
The girls’ team score of 180 was good for fifth place in the 11-team invitational field. St. Francis took first place with a 162.

Lowell and Olsen will advance to play in the Northern California championship at Butte Creek Country Club in Chico on May 23. AAA schools have struggled mightily in recent years, but Olsen specifically has his eyes set on advancing even further.
