Do you feel the need to give back to the community for the many blessings that you have in life?  Do you take pride in helping others less fortunate?  Would you get a little choked up when 1.) you see a blind child squeal with delight upon getting a gift from Santa or 2.) when a young adult thanks you for your efforts in getting him (her) to overcome a severe speech problem as a young child?  Do you enjoy meeting with others who have similar interests?

If so, why not consider becoming a Royal Oak Lion?

MEMBERSHIP - Any adult of good character is eligible to become a Royal Oak Lion.  Simply contact us by phone at (248) 549-2504 or thru e-mail at royaloaklions@yahoo.com, and we will invite you to lunch on us.  After three free meals, where you will get to know us, and we to know you, you will be eligible for membership upon payment of a $30 initiation fee.  The board of directors will meet and approve your membership, provided you are a member in good standing in the community.  You will then be inducted and placed on a committee to get you more involved.

WHEN AND WHERE - We meet every Monday, except for holidays, for lunch at 12:15pm at:
  Beaumont Health Center
  4949 Coolidge Hwy.
  Royal Oak, Michigan 48073

248-655-5695

DUES - At first glance, membership dues of $100.00 per quarter sounds expensive.  But this amount includes the weekly lunch, which costs the club $9.00.  If you are used to spending that much for lunch and attended 11 meals per quarter, it would cost you only $1 additional to be a Royal Oak Lion.

MEMBERSHIP ALTERNATIVES - If you find after becoming a Lion, that you have difficulty attending meetings regularly, you may request to be made a member-at-large.  Although you lose certain voting privileges, your dues will be $40.00 per quarter.  You will also billed $9.00 for meals eaten.  Other forms of membership include life membership and privileged membership, both of which require lengthy periods of prior membership.

ORGANIZATION - We are a part of one of the world's largest service organizations and are dedicated to serve the community, particularly in the area of blindness.  Our club has two separate entities.  While the Royal Oak Lions club collects dues and fines from its members to pay for member activities, Royal Oak Lions Charities is a registered 501(c)(3) charity, which raises money and donates it to other charities and needy individuals.

We pay no wages or rent.  Our only administrative fees include about $360.00 per year for a telephone for charities and needy individuals to call for assistance and a $10.00 annual non-profit fee paid to the State of Michigan.  This leaves us with over 99% of our profits from fundraising activities going directly to charity.
